Someone who applies his or her knowledge of the pure sciences to make practical applications for real world problems is by definition an engineer. Engineers are the people who create solutions to issues that the world faces on a daily basis, from miniscule problems such as creating a more ergonomic workplace to large scale issues such as global warming. Without engineers the world would not be as advanced as it is today, we would all still be clueless about electricity, we wouldn’t have the advanced knowledge on space and we might still not have had proper methods of transportation.
